Hello everyone, here is part 2 of my adventure into the world of anime voice actors and the characters they have voiced. I am working on putting all the information together in one big special, you know since the festive season is upon us. So next time it will be a real treat to see what the voice actors have been up to. But for now, here are another three of my favourite voice actors from some of the anime I have seen. Enjoy!
Right off the bat here, Kouichi Yamadera voiced two seriously cool characters in Spike Spiegel (Cowboy Bebop) and Ryōji Kaji (Neon Genesis Evangelion). Spike is one of the coolest anime characters out there; if not the coolest. The style and quality of Cowboy Bebop certainly adds to the cool factor and can also be considered one of the greatest anime of all-time. One can also add Neon Genesis Evangelion to the list of greatest anime works, with Kaji being the cool character. Both of these anime are a must see!

Characters from more recent anime that I have seen are “Heathcliff” Akihiko Kayaba (Sword Art Online), Donquixote Rosinante (One Piece) and Beerus (Dragon Ball Super). Sword Art Online may not have such a long history as One Piece and the Dragon ball Saga, but the character, Heathcliff, was the lead antagonist and a memorable one mind you. I must admit that I was surprised that Kouichi Yamadera voiced Donquixote Rosinante from One Piece as well, who seems to be the odd character here. Let’s face it, Rosinante is not the coolest guy out there, but he is an interesting character. Then there is Beerus from Dragon Ball Super, who is just a really strong cat that goes around destroying planets. I would not advise any tummy rubs.

I feel good that I was able to pick up on a couple of these characters voiced by Rikiya Koyama. These were Klaus V Reinherz (Kekkai Sensen), Jōichirō Yukihira (Shokugeki no Souma) and Souda Emonzaemon (Katanagatari). Although that might be because it just so happened that I watched those anime at about the same time and Rikiya Koyama does have an epic and easy to recognise voice. He does seem to be quite involved in anime that have a lot of action. Shokugeki no Souma and Kekkai Sensen are recent anime, both good to watch. Katanagatari on the other hand may not be as well-known as other anime, but I can assure you it is some of the best storytelling in an anime that I have seen and there are some really great fights as well.

The big surprises to me were that he voiced Shinigami (Soul Eater) and Yamato (Naruto). I could add Kyros (One Piece) in there, but he has not been the most enjoyable character to see on screen. Shinigami is pure class and his Shinigami-chops are always funny, while Yamato was important in keeping Naruto in line with his scary face. Hotarubi has the exact same eyes as Yamato, in addition to the same voice, but that is all you need to know.

Some of the older anime characters now make an appearance. I will be honest, I had no idea all of these characters, apart from Jet Black (Cowboy Bebop – I don’t need to say more on that), were voiced by Unshō Ishizuka. These characters sure do seem fitting though, somewhat older with facial hair (unlike in his picture on the left). So obviously Zabuza Momochi (Naruto Series) did not feature all that much in the Naruto series, but Mr. Satan (Dragon Ball Series) is back! I don’t think we will be fortunate enough to see him depart anytime soon. If only Gohan thought about the possible consequences his decisions may have. Other old geezers voiced by Unshō Ishizuka are Kizaru (One Piece) and Gozaburo Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh!). I do like Kizaru more because he would be very handy to have around when load shedding takes place here in South Africa. Also, check out those sunnies! The one gem that I found is Carnage Kabuto (One-Punch Man), he did only last until a single punch from Saitama, but my word it was epic.

That’s the highlight package for these three voice actors who have kept us all entertained with the characters they voiced. Let us know what you thought about the characters, anime and the voice actors discussed in this post. Who is your favourite character voiced by any of these voice actors and why?
Until next time, stay Chewned.
