For our second episode of The Anime Chewns Podcast we are discussing a battle as old as Western localization: Subbed vs. Dubbed. Do you enjoy your anime in the natural Japanese audio with English subtitles or do you enjoy anime with English voice overs? 1). First we take a look at the new image for the recently green-lit My Hero Academia (Boku no Hero Academia) anime, said to be a possible new big anime hit.
2). Netflix is looking to invest heavily into new anime content which may be great for the anime industry!
3). We discuss a couple of anime movie release news i.e. Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Dark Side of Dimensions Film Opening dates and 20th Detective Conan Film’s Tease
4). There are a few new anime game release news to discuss including –
- Arslan: The Warriors of Legend’s trailer and opinions
- Attack on Titan’s trailer and opinions on whether it will be good or just hyped
- Steins;Gate 0 gameplay and pricing opinions
5). Lastly we lament over the closing of Dubbing Studio Magnitude 8 Post who worked on the likes of Akira, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Code Geass to name a few.
We then get into our long-ass discussion about the pros and cons of subbed vs. dubbed anime, why the debate? the issues, when to dub and when to sub and which is better. We also talk a bit about the awesomeness that is One Punch Man and GANGSTA.
